About SolutionCraft
Brennan Blazer Bird is an ecological educator, natural builder, water harvester, & appropriate techie based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has been leading ecological projects with youth and adults both nationally & internationally for the past 15 years. While at UC Davis he started a solar cooking club and taught students how to build and use their own solar cookers out of cardboard, glass, and aluminum foil. For the past 10 years he has taught students how to build earthen benches and other structures using earthen building techniques and repurposed trash in the form of plastic stuffed bottle bricks (www.earthbench.org). Brennan has presented at the National Bioneers Conference for 5 years, given a TEDx Talk, and led workshops at Universities, public and private schools, and conferences around California and the world.
SolutionCraft is an ecological design, build, and education venture devoted to spreading ecological literacy through simple and appropriate technologies. SolutionCraft’s goal is to make ecological literacy as accessible as possible using a hands-on and multimedia approach, from school assemblies to workshops to home and land-project scale ecological installations to curriculum and online resources. I can teach about the design and installation of a variety of ecological projects from rainwater and greywater systems; earthen tiny homes; outdoor kitchens and bathhouses; rocket stoves and solar ovens; outdoor school garden classrooms; and more. Brennan is part of a growing community of designers, landscape architects, engineers, educators, and contractors in the San Francisco Bay Area who I consult and collaborate with. And my developing dream is prototyping a ecological skills / Green Job training program for high school students.
